30 years teaching music—singing and piano—to people of all ages.
20 years teaching music in the Hawthorne area of SE Portland. The two schools that most of my students attend: Abernethy Elementary and Hosford Middle School.
Materials used: Piano Adventures-Lesson and Theory books by Randall and Nancy Faber. My students also learn music by Bach, Mozart, Vince Guaraldi, Duke Ellington, Dr. John, and other great composers.
My music education : Bachelor of Arts Theater/Music- Portland State University. Faculty member in the Music & Sonic Arts Department at Portland Community College.
Some career information: I perform regularly with my jazz trio. I play piano, sing, and write songs. I have recorded 6 albums on my record label LIKELIFE RECORDS. I have written music for four Shakespeare plays: Twelfth Night and Love’s Labour’s Lost at Northwest Classical Theater Company, Midsummer Night’s Dream at Lakewood Theater, and As You Like It for Portland Shakespeare Project. In spring 2011, my music was featured in The Hunt’s Point Children’s Ensemble production of Twelfth Night, a joint project with The Shakespeare Society based in New York City.
Studio Rules: If a lesson time needs to be changed, a 24 hour notice is required, otherwise the missed lesson must be paid for.
